Portfolio · NotesA designer without Figma
Understanding people and connecting ideas in a design process without Figma.

I’m interested in imagining a design process without Figma. First, the designer works out what’s happening for the person: how they feel, how they think and what they’re trying to achieve. That takes emotional intelligence, empathy and the ability to imagine someone else’s state of mind.
Then they connect that understanding with knowledge from other fields. They find a link between things that seem completely unrelated and come up with a new solution.
Next, AI builds a working version. The designer tests it with people and refines it. I think their role in this process will increasingly centre on understanding people and coming up with new ideas.
That’s essentially what we already do. Just without Figma.
