Portfolio · NotesWhat has the assistant actually done about my trip?
A long task needs a clear view of progress, options and decisions.

Imagine asking an assistant to plan a weekend in St Petersburg. Tickets, a hotel, all within your budget. It starts searching, you close the chat and come back that evening.
There’s already a pile of messages. It found a hotel, something changed with the tickets, and somewhere it asked for your approval. To work out where things stand, you have to reread the conversation. If it’s also finding a gift and sorting out a return, you have to keep track of each task separately.
So the trip needs its own task card: dates and budget, the options found, what’s still in progress and which decision it needs from you. It should also show what the assistant is allowed to do on its own and why it chose that hotel. From there, you can change the requirements or stop the search without hunting through the conversation.
Which raises the next question: where should all of this live, and where should we show it? More on that in a future post.
